Restaurant Development + Design: Perry’s Brings Texas Steakhouse Swank to Illinois
Houston-based Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille has opened its first unit outside of Texas, in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook, Ill.
Built by Elmhurst, Ill.-based contractor ICI, the 11,000-square-foot restaurant sits adjacent to Neiman Marcus in the Oakbrook Center upscale shopping and dining mall. It provides seating for up to 350 guests and includes five private dining rooms that seat from eight to 80 guests, and patio seating for seasonal outdoor dining—complete with outdoor fireplace.
Design features in the main dining room include a towering wine wall that holds more than 2,000 bottles, dramatic lighting, a view into the exposed kitchen, and touches of amber, red and cobalt blue throughout. The restaurant’s bar area, named Bar 79, is island-style and offers live music Monday-Thursday evenings. Of the Oak Brook unit’s design vision, the company says, “By incorporating light, airy, modern touches to the various dining areas, Perry’s creates an environment that appeals to both men and women and whisks away the notion of a traditional stuffy steakhouse.”
